The Aquatic Center Complex
Wildey · 2019 →

Marita opened POPS in 2019 to bring something missing to Barbados: dedicated aquatic rehabilitation alongside hands-on physiotherapy, in a private practice. She trained at the University of Dundee in Sports and Biomechanical Medicine and works as a physiotherapist with the Women's Tennis Association. Today she leads a small clinical team — and the aquatic practice that makes POPS what it is.
Six years on. Hundreds of patients. One standard.
"Buoyancy doesn't just make recovery easier. It makes recoveries possible that would otherwise stall on land."

Water makes recoveries possible that wouldn't be on land. Buoyancy supports your weight, which means you can start moving weeks earlier than you could safely after surgery — that gap is often the difference between progress and a long wait.
The water also resists you, gently and in every direction. Strength, range of motion, and balance all train in a single movement, at whatever intensity feels right that day.
And the steady pressure of the water on the body reduces swelling and supports circulation — useful in chronic pain, lymphatic conditions, and pregnancy. We use the pool across every kind of patient, from elite athletes returning to sport to expectant mothers in the third trimester.

"I found Marita very friendly and easy to communicate with, she explained my prognosis in layman's terms and was able to treat me incrementally... I am grateful for her attention to detail and most of all for making my hand much better."
